WILDCATS RUN WILD TO END DAWGS SEASON

It has been six years since Aurora has advanced into the playoffs and entering Wednesday's game wasn't an easy task. They traveled to Cassville to face the No.2 team in the state with a 9-1 record. Aurora played Cassville very tough in their first meeting in September. Cassville entered this game defending their state title and never even looked back after roaring to a 28-0 lead in the first quarter. Cassville racked up over 420 yards on the ground and were led by their star running back who scored 5 touchdowns on his own. The Houns didnt end their season the way they would have liked but the seniors have taken this program in a new direction and left it in a place to grow and advance even farther next season. Great job Dawgs and Good Luck Seniors. The Fall banquet will be Sunday Nov. 8th at the Highschool.

DAWGS BRING BELL BOWL BACK HOME

Picture
After nine long seasons of not beating the Mountaineers, Aurora finally ended that losing streak on a very wet, muddy night. The game was pushed back to due to lightning, but it finally got under way and Aurora came out and took it to the Mt' Neers. Almost three quarters of the game, Aurora had possesion and rushed for over 240 yards and picked up 13 first downs, and held the Mt' Neers to 28 yards rushing for the game! Aurora got on the scoreboard early when Garrett Ormsby picked of a Mt' Neer pass and nearly ran it back for a touchdown before being pushed out at the 2 yard line. Dustin Hedrick trucked his way into the endzone and Hickman converted the two point conversion to put the Houns up 8-0 and that's all the Dawgs would need to beat the Mt' Neers. The defense stood strong and the offense took care of the ball the rest of the game. The end of the game got a little out of hand on the Mt' Neers side, and their head coach was ejected and a player was ejected as well. Aurora was awarded 45 yards in penalties but could not go that far on the field so not the refs marched the penalties off and Aurora was jumping up and down and the celebrations began as Aurora took a kneel down and counted off the remaining ten seconds to end the Bell Bowl drought, with this win the Houn Dawgs will advance to the state playoffs for the first time since 2003 and will travel to Cassville to face the Wildcats who won their district and knocked Monett out of the playoffs. The first round of the playoffs will be next Wednesday @ Cassville at 7pm. Great Job Dawgs

Houns Come up Short to Catholic

It's been a long time since Aurora was going into the second week of districts with a 1-0 mark and facing another 1-0 team in Springfield Catholic. The winner would potentially be crowned the District Champion at some point. Aurora came flying out of the gates and opened the game with two scoring drives that took alot of time off the clock, but Catholic responded right back with opening touchdown drives of their own. Going into the half the Irish had the edge 21-14 and would get the ball first in the second half. The Houns were able to move the ball all night long on the Irish but a fumble deep in Irish territory hurt the Dawgs momentum and another drive stalled after a 4th-3 came up short and the Irish took over on downs. The Irish had to turn to their air attack because the Dawgs were too strong up front, and the Irish made a key thrid down conversion that would wrap the game up and lead to the game sealing touchdown. It was a third and 12 with the Irish backed up deep and Waylon Doty rushed through the line and hit the quarterback but it was a designed screen pass to the tailback and h

Aurora Opens District in Fashion

It wasnt only Homecoming night with a former Head coach on the other sideline coaching the visiting Wolves, it was opening night of district play, and Aurora opened districts with a big win and celebrated a homecoming win as well! Aurora dominated the Wolves on defense and stopped the Wolves five times inside the Red Zone! Aurora was able to find the endzone four times, two scores from Garrett Ormsby, one being a 50 yard run down the sideline to seal the game, and one being a quarterback sneak. the other two scores came from Dustin Hedrick. Overall the offense played outstanding and made big plays all night long, especially from newcomer Austin Lennox who almost busted another opening kickoff return for a touchdown, and had a good night running the ball. Hedrick and Kris Stone also made some great catches for big gains. On the defensive side of the ball it was Michael Parbury's night as he came away with two interceptions against the Wolves. Kris Stone had also had one! The Defensive line destroyed the Wolves up front causing havoc in the backfield all night long and Waylon Doty came up with his conference leading 9th sack of the season! The Dawgs played intense the entire game and every hit was a big hit on the Wolves. This coming week the Dawgs will travel to Springfield Catholic to try and upset the Fighting Irish at home for a second District Victory and hope to secure a spot in the State Playoffs for the first time since 2003.

East Newton upsets Aurora Friday Night

On a cold damp night on a muddy field in East Newton, frustration set in against the Patriots late in the fourth quarter as the Houns were unable to stop the rushing attack of the Patriots as two rushers had over 100 yards and put 31 points on the board. The Houns trailed at halftime 17-14, but were unable to score until late in the 4th quarter with seconds remaining  and converted a two point conversion as well to make the score 31-22 to end the game. The Houns will look to face off against the visiting Reeds Spring Wolves and former coach Brian Moler on Friday night as it is also Homecoming for the Houn Dawgs!

Houns Lose Heartbreaker to Ranked Monett

Going into Friday nights game no one knew what to expect with the No. 1 ranked Cubs coming to town, but Aurora did not bow down to the Cubs and forced a close game and it wasnt decided until late in the fourth quarter when Monett took over on downs after Aurora failed to convert a fourth and long pass play. Aurora fans cheered on the Houns after the game and told them they had nothing to hang their head about. Monett stole the game away from Aurora with a 14-7 score.  Aurora will travel to East Newton Friday night for their last regular season game before District play opens up.

Aurora Snaps 12 Game Skid!

Aurora snapped its 12 game losing streak Friday Night against the visiting Lamar Tigers and their spin offense. Kelley field was packed to witness the Dawgs first win under Coach Scholten and the Dawgs played flawlessly against the Tigers! The Dawgs racked up over 220 yards rushing and added several quarterback sacks against the Tigers. The O-line and D-line played a great game all game holding off the Tigers all night. The Defense held Tiger quarterback to -9 yards on 25 carries! The Dawgs will travel to Cassville to face the defending Champions.
