Houn Dawgs being Involved 09/08/2009
Is it important for this town and community to be proud of being the only Houn Dawgs across the nation? You bet! When you hear Aurora, Missouri...you think Houn Dawgs. When traveling and talking to other tourists they somehow know that Aurora is home of the Houn Dawgs. The school and community should take pride in being Houn Dawgs! It is a unique mascot and WE need to take advantage of being the only Houn Dawgs especially in this area! We need to wear our colors proudly and support all the Houn Dawgs whether it be a Project Graduation fundraiser or an athletic event. There is a lot of history with Aurora and the Houn Dawg and that history will never be forgotten but it is time for the new generation of Houn Dawgs to make their own history and new traditions while carring on the old traditions and passing them down as well! I have known other schools to have their sports teams hold a community day where they get together and do work in the community, like repainting park benches, or picking up trash or working a car wash or other fundraisers. It would be something to think about having a fall sports cook out at the field or at the one of the parks where the community can come get to know the student athletes and coaches, giving out prizes, having games or even having a kickball game against the Houns, just something to get the community involved with the student athletes! Do you have an idea? Please share with us? The Houn' Dawgs tonight don't have anything to hang their heads about they play a great game. The final score tonight was was 38-7 but the Dawgs really did play a great game...Great job! Coach Scholten and Coach Johnson I for one am really proud of the way you have our Dawgs playing. Leave a Reply |
