Bell Bowl Drought Over 11/01/2009
After 9 long seasons of losing to the Mountaineers, Aurora finally put an end to the losing streak and did it with fashion and on a great night for football. It was the perfect setup, it was the last regular season game, and it was a district and conference game, whoever won the game would advance to the playoffs, and did I mention the field was a mudpit and it rained all night long? Aurora scored 8 points early on and thats all they needed shutting the Mt' Neers out and towards the end of the game tempers started to flare as the Mt'Neer coach was ejected as well as a player a few play later. Great Job Coaches and Players and good luck in the playoffs! Bleeding Red and Black 10/15/2009
As fall sports come to a close and Districts just around the corner, fans are encouraged to wear their Red and Black to all the games and support our Houn Dawgs, wearing their True Colors! Houn Dawgs being Involved 09/08/2009
Is it important for this town and community to be proud of being the only Houn Dawgs across the nation? You bet! When you hear Aurora, Missouri...you think Houn Dawgs. When traveling and talking to other tourists they somehow know that Aurora is home of the Houn Dawgs. The school and community should take pride in being Houn Dawgs! It is a unique mascot and WE need to take advantage of being the only Houn Dawgs especially in this area! We need to wear our colors proudly and support all the Houn Dawgs whether it be a Project Graduation fundraiser or an athletic event. There is a lot of history with Aurora and the Houn Dawg and that history will never be forgotten but it is time for the new generation of Houn Dawgs to make their own history and new traditions while carring on the old traditions and passing them down as well! I have known other schools to have their sports teams hold a community day where they get together and do work in the community, like repainting park benches, or picking up trash or working a car wash or other fundraisers. It would be something to think about having a fall sports cook out at the field or at the one of the parks where the community can come get to know the student athletes and coaches, giving out prizes, having games or even having a kickball game against the Houns, just something to get the community involved with the student athletes! Do you have an idea? Please share with us? What does it mean to be a HOUN DAWG? 08/21/2009
To be a HounDawg means more than just to call yourself a Houndawg. It means that you are apart of tradition and you are following that tradition and have pride doing it. It means something when people stand up for the mascot at games, and cheering on the teams, and players. Being a HounDawg is much more than just being on a Houn Dawg team, it starts with the fans and support in the community! A true Houn Dawg supports all aspects of being a Houndawg and when the team is down in the fourth quarter its the duty of everyone else to who calls themselves Houndawgs to cheer them on and raise them up! It is our duty as Houndawgs to be a Houn Dawg win or lose. Kickoff just around the Corner 08/13/2009
